Did
you always know you wanted to work in the Fashion Industry?
I
was always interested in the arts from a fashion perspective from
about year 10 onwards. I spend a lot of my senior year at high school
in the photographic labs.
What was your first job in
fashion?
I spent the summer after I finished my degree cold
calling photographers that I begged, borrowed and googled there phone
numbers, did a number of free jobs, than started getting paid to
assist
Do you have a qualification? If yes, is it related
to the role you have now?
I have a Bachelor of Design in
Visual Communications and I was a Photomedia major. While it does not
directly relate to the work I do now, it gave me my base in visual
communication, also having an understanding of how photography and
light works helps when communicating ideas.
Can you run us
through the steps you took in gaining the role you have now?
I
freelance assisted for many years working with a lot of the Sydney
based stylist. Within theses job I assisted on a number of Harpers
Bazaar Editoral shoots and built a relationship with the magazine and
their Editor. I was then offered a position here at GRAZIA when the
Editor from Harpers Bazaar moved here.
What is the
highlight of your job?
The year and a half I worked in New
York. It was tough, but I grew so much as a person, assistant and
stylist.
What is your one piece of advice for people
looking for a Market Editor role in the Fashion industry?
Take
every bit of work experience you can get - it will eventually lead
to a paid job.
Who is your icon in the fashion industry and
why?
Michelle Jank. I have worked with her for many years and
she continually inspires and pushes me to new heights

Happy, inspired and still
