Name: Rebecca Ford
Age: 30
Job Title: Fashion Stylist
Did you
always know you wanted to work in Fashion?
Even as a young
girl I was always dressing up and wearing mum's jewellery!
What was your
first job in fashion?
David
Jones
Do you have a
qualification? If
yes, is it related to the role you have now?
No
Can you run
us through the steps you took in gaining the role you have now?
I met a Fashion Stylist at a modeling shoot and discussed the
possibility of doing personal styling. I always had a flare for
fashion and for knowing what colours and styles suit certain people
so I was really interested. I undertook months of training with
the Styling Company and work experience and gained the role of Senior
Fashion Stylist.
What is the
highlight of your job?
Seeing a
client with no confidence at all when I first meet them, and then
having so much confidence about the way they look and dress after a
Fashion Styling Session!
What is your
one piece of advice for people looking for a Fashion Retail Assistant
role?
Being a Fashion Stylist entails loads of enthusiasm
and innate understanding of fashion, color and style. An ability to
listen to a client well, to do lots of research and to think on your
own initiative is also high on the list. Offer to do work experience
with a magazine or a Fashion Styling Company, it will give you a
better understanding and insight into the industry and to what you
will enjoy doing. Whilst you are there, show your enthusiasm
and creativity with clothing and accessorising!!
Who is your
icon in the fashion industry and why?
I really like
Sienna Miller's style. It is very cool and funky. I can see
similarities between Kate Moss' fashion choices and Sienna's. It
doesn't look like she's trying too hard and yet she manages to look
stunning.
Where do you see
yourself in 5 years?
I would really like to
have my own kids fashion label one day!
